Gettin Cold

The winter is coming on strong as we aproach December. The temperature is dipping below freezing in the upper parts of the country. Here in Iowa, it is no different. For most people this is torture, but for some people it is the start of their outdoor sporting season. Deer hunting is a popular activity for many outdoor enthusiasts. During the start of the bow season, in October, alone more than 50,000 hunters hit the forests to try and get that trophy buck (IA DNR). Even more hunters are expected when the shotgun season starts. Ice fishing is one of my favoite winter activities. It's always fun to get out on the lake, whether your in a boat or in a tent. Last year Lake Mcbride produced some great crappie and bluegill fishing. We can only hope this year will be the same or better. It is a little to soon for me to go out on the ice. I like at least 8 inches of ice before I step foot onto the lake. Ice fishing can be dangerous so it is always a good idea to have someone with you. With all the cold weather we are getting we should be fishing soon.
